Ok, so here's the thing, I have this strange noise coming from the front of my car, when I hit bumps. It sounds like something is loose and bouncing around, like an empty fluid resovoir or something, a knocking sound. Awww screw it, i'll get an audio recording of it. For the record, there are no empty fluid resovoirs in the car

I have an SRI, front strut bar...those are the only under-hood mods I can think of. It's not the block heater cord hitting anything, and I cannot find anything loose under the hood.

I'll try to get a recording if my camera can pick it up.

 

if it's kind of a thumping sound it could very well be your strut bar colliding with the hood. my friend has this problem on his car.

~ 4 seconds in you can hear it really well, sort of a bit of a rattle. I'll look into the strut bar vs hood thing, but I think since the strut bar is mounted on the rear-most studs of the strut, it's not in range of the hood, it's almost under the cowl part. But i'll check, maybe strip out the under-hood foam sound deadening stuff and see if that makes any difference. (does that stuff serve a purpose anyway?)

 

Check your intake and see if the filter is hitting something. Maybe againsts your motor or something. Usually itll bounce when you hit bumps. Since i put my solid mounts in my front grill vibrates alot and makes a noise. Check the grill on the hood too.

 

re-upping that file (guess that one didn't work too well) and i'll check out the SRI for movement, jam some foam in and see if the noise persists. Definately not the strut bar though.


I do believe the car has made this noise since before I had the SRI though. Will try & let you all know.

Ok, I do suspect the SRI, but I crammed so much foam in there's no way that thing could be hitting anything...
