This is not my first car with timing chain but it is the loudest...

has anyone noticed if their engine is noisy at startup and then about 10 seconds later it quiets up a bit? (probably when oil pressure builds up and lubricates chain)

That just seems like a long time to build up pressure.

 

Yeah, it's a bit louder than some of my other chain driven vehicles, but I don't really worry about it.

It's also much lighter and more aluminum than most chain driven users are used to.

 

No Way I had an Nissan Altima SR20DE it was way louder. I do wait for the oil pressure to build before driving though. Do you ever here a noise in the tranny like a click after moving off in drive in 2 seconds like it engages again?

 

i noticed that click too and i thought it was doors locking automatically at first lol

 

I had a KA24E that was loud but it had 132K miles...I have an SR20DET now that makes no chain noise ever, but then again maybe I dont hear it cause the car has no exhaust lol
