2008 lancer low on power?

I installed a jl audio amp 500/1 and a 13"w6v2 sub into my car that is only 500 watts rms and when the bass hits the headlights dim. only other car i had that problem with was a 94 honda and that was over 1000 watts. i had the same setup in my maxima with TVs, xbox, the works and even had halo headlights and led taillights and not the slightest dimming. i thought all cars made after 2000 had more power. i have a cap i will install and see if it fixes it.

I've always say that a cap is just a bandaid to this "dimming" light problem. But plug that cap on in there and prove me wrong! LOL Other than that and the new battery you're going to get, a bigger AMP alt. might be in order...

BTW, anyone care to post the AMP on these '08 model Lancer's alternators?

Best thing to do is always, always, always upgrade the big 3, if you don't know what I'm talking about, do a search on some car audio forums.

I have two jl w3's in mine and it seems to be fine. Im running a power technique 1200 watt amp to it. I also have my entire trunk dynamated also ( professionally done ). My trunk rattled pretty bad I cant imagine how the w6 would sound? I do wish I had a couple of those in there tho, but I think it would be too much for a compact car.

yea lol i dont think a pair of W6s would fit in the lancer trunk unless you want to get a box done that isnt to spec. the one 13" w6 i got almost makes my rear view mirrow shake off and its completely useless but its a good massage. i had a pair of 12" infinity subs before they didnt hit half as hard as the w6. i only get rattles on the trunk lid and spoiler mostly. all the others arent enough to dynamat. im getting my dynamat done once i get my lisence plate so i can do that too. i was going to get a w7 but i thought that was overkill especially with the back seats folded down you would go deaf.

guys this car is really low on power...

try this : while driving at night @ low speeds in a dark area (headlights on foglights on too) , try closing two windows at the same time and see what happens to the light output in front of ur car...it gets much weaker

didnt know that could still happen in a 2008 car
