were the things they fixed recalls, or just something that happened to be wrong with your car?

I have none of the problems listed above. 100% satisfied with my GTS manual. No alignment pull, no A/C problem, no idle problem.
The only problem I have is the 152 HP, but I am gettin used to it.
Good luck everybody on fixing you issues.

that funky smell is normal on AC's for many cars. Drive with AC on then shut it off with the blower still on and you will smell it

I dont' know if this is worth a sticky or not but it's a good start to cataloguing possible recalls/issues...and might help future EVO owners to diagnose problems with this new model.

That's normal, but I have a different smell. It's only for the first whiff of air, regardless of whether or not I turn on the AC.

it appears I got myself a lemon... all issues have remained the same- the car has been at the dealer for another 20 days, about 30 total, haven't picked it up yet to let you know what else they're changing... sure enough though will demand mitsu buys it back

To tell you the truth, Global Auto Mall of N. Plainfield, NJ is not one of my favorites, starting with sleazy salesman. Once I wanted to buy a new Galant for a certain set amount and they were trying to sell another used car to me, they didn't listen to me at anything I had to say, very pushy, and not knowlagable at all about their cars.

If you want a good Mitsubishi dealer in the area then my vote definitely goes to Bell Mitsubishi of Rahway, NJ. They also have a pretty good and responsive service department. Anyway, the issues, except for the wheel misalignment which seems to be a popular problem with GTS owners, seem to be isolated incidents and it looks like you got the bad seed from the crop. I don't know how much more patience you have but I would either try another Mitsu dealership service department or I would start to get acquainted with the Lemon Law of NJ. I know the 2008 Lancer is a first year run of a brand new platform and it will have it's share of little quirks and issues but to have a car in the service department for 20 days of the first few weeks of owning it definitely is not why you chose to have a brand new car and paid a lot of money for it. Mitsubishi and the crappy dealership that sold you the car are at total fault.

2-Not sure if this is the same, but when going over hard bumps at over 30 mph, my suspension makes a klank...First noticed it coming from the front left, but have heard it in other spots as well. Mitsu is in the process of fixxing.

3-Air conditioner issue I think may be okay, but maybe I'm wrong...

4-I do have high rpm idles during cold starts, but not at any other time... Should definately have that checked...

5-Parking brake issue is definately validated. Itwill hold tight, but only if you pull it hard and high...Kinda'annoying...
you shouldnt be going over hard bumps over 30 mph buddy

The klank is probably from your rims hitting the bump from going so fast.

The issue with AC smell. - There is a filter for AC behind the glovebox. you can spray it down with a concentrated air freshener and it will fix the problem. It usually lasts about 6 months depending on what u spray and how much u use the AC. I had to do it on my last truck, but I dont have any smell in my GTS

Parking brake is supposed to be a little hard. It is a lever and you are the one engaging the brake. The car doesnt help you. My lancer is the same as my other cars.

Remember its Mitsubishi Corp you have the warranty contract not the dealer so to speak. I suggest you call Mitsu corp and fill them in on your attempts to resolve it. Then and i cant stress this enough, document and even video the actually things that are wrong with the car. if you have to before and after dealer visits. if its still not fixed and they say they did, Head office will give them hell to pay.

It hurts to go over peoples head, but if they are real claims then you have the right.

the longer the delay the more the dealer will be able to say its due to the your driving.

Cheers

oh ya, one more thing that dealers are afraid of, but i guess it may vary by state. but contact your insurance company, let them know that ummm the Dealer may have given you a ****ed up car and refuses to fix it. lol all types of hell broke out when my friend used that for her RSX. muahah, can you say new car in 5 days

Well I find this posting right up my alley......

I just want to say I have had my car into service three times now for the issue with it pulling to the left. After picking up the third time, I was told at this time Engineering has nothing else they can do anymore and that they will contact service once they have the answer. In the meantime, my car still pulls left and nothing has been fixed. They gave me back the car in this unsafe condition.

I called Mitsu Corp right away and have talked to the CSR first, and a manager second day. They have escalated it to a District person to take care of and to talk with engineering. I advised them that they need to buy this vehicle back in full or replace it with one that does not have the problem. That was today, so hopefully should be hearing something tomorrow or Monday.

I am very disappointed, but understand new cars sometimes have these issues. But it seems Mitsu is trying to avoid the problem with some of their comments they made.

Just like the lady saying......"well if it was unsafe, I'm sure they wouldn't have you take it back" Let me say, if you bought a new car, had it in the shop three times for it pulling to the left, and it can't be fixed and the company doesn't know how to fix it. Then on top of that, its causing wear and tear since it isn't straight. Would you feel safe driving it not know what is wrong whatsoever? meaning something could just go at anytime and send you flying into a spin out or a wall?

She had no reply.......
