new 08 Lancer GTS various issues
new 08 Lancer GTS various issues
ok, these are my observations this far: (car properly broken-in and now has 3300miles)
1. The car pulls to the left.
2. The car always makes a loud noise after I start the car and then reverse back either making a left or right while in reverse. The noise sounds like it comes from the front left.
3. Air-conditioning / auto climate function: Whenever turned on, there is a strange noise coming from the car air vents – the airflow is not smooth and it sort of sounds like the air is passing through a straw with holes or a tube with holes. At times, I have observed a strange scent coming form the air vents too (like engine smell)
4. Tachometer: idle RPM levels are acting abnormal: I have observed many times where the car, while idle, the RPM’s are stuck at 2-2.5 thousand RPM… (not when warming-up)– Also many times, again at idle, the RPM’s do not go down past 1 thousand RPM.
5. The handbrake engages very high and at times after pulled, the car will still move an inch… I have had many manual transmission cars in the past and they would never budge at all after pulling the handbrake.
dropped the car of at the mitsu dealer, see what happens...

1- My GTS was pulling to the left a lot as well... Took it in, had an alignment done, and it still pulled to the left. Took it back, 2nd alignment, no problem now. They are 18" tires, and therfore it will have more pull w/ road crown, but that's normal...
2-Not sure if this is the same, but when going over hard bumps at over 30 mph, my suspension makes a klank...First noticed it coming from the front left, but have heard it in other spots as well. Mitsu is in the process of fixxing.
3-Air conditioner issue I think may be okay, but maybe I'm wrong...
4-I do have high rpm idles during cold starts, but not at any other time... Should definately have that checked...
5-Parking brake issue is definately validated. Itwill hold tight, but only if you pull it hard and high...Kinda'annoying...

it's a 5 speed, no news from the dealer yet... sounds like some others have been having similar issues though (alignment-tachometer high idle RPM) - if they cannot fix I'll be calling Mitsu CEO! will let you know
well, no news from the dealer yet... Not even the descency to call me and inform they' re not done yet -btw the dealer is Global Auto Mall N. Plainfield Rt 22 NJ - first time going there but so far not very satisfied...

picked up the car today, so:
#1 they did a 4 wheel aligmnemt (see if I'll observe any issues in the future again)
#2 they changed the front left control arm
#3 replaced AC expansion valve
#4 & 5 they claim all is normal
