okay so this is the story...i bought a nice melon scented liquid air freshener...and my buddy knocked it off the air vent while he was gettin in..so he picked up off my floor n put it back on the air vent..UPSIDE DOWN...n wut happened was it started to leak on the silver part of my dash board..i didnt think much of it..untill i wiped it off...the dayum liquid stripped the paint off my dash...-_-...oh i was pissed..so i just wanna recommened to all u lancer owners that love ur car just as much as i do...to stay away from those freakin liquid air fresheners...il have pics of it later on..i just got off work -_-

 

Are you talking about the carbon fiber part, or something else silver? I don't remember anything being silver except that. And it's not really silver.

 

He knows that it's not silver. He specifically said it stripped the paint. There's silver around the CVT shifter, might vary by trim and tranny.

To hiposon - just be a real man and don't use an air freshener!

I have a hanging one that has Peter from Family Guy saying "Freaking sweet!" and that does fine. Although it's out of smell and I should get a new one.
I'm engaged. I don't need a nice-smelling car. Just lots of cash to buy purses and flowers.

Definitely looks like it stripped the carbon fiber dash pieces, and the silver around the air vent. That sucks bro...

I bought that one tree air refreshner for my car. It was "sex"...so now when people get in my POS they say:

"dude your car smells like sex!"

and I say:

"do you like it?!"

damn that sucks. jst put the liquid all over ur trim so it looks like it was supposed to be that way.

 

haha well the same thing happened to my old car. actually it was the "gel" type. California Scents to be exact. My sister was trying to make the car smell better so she figured that she should put the air freshner right infrom of the AC vent and guess what, the freakin gel melted and dripped on my dash. well it was on my FOCUS so anyone whos familiar with that car knows about the big plastic piece where the stereo sits. Long story short, it was like acid. It melted a not so deep layer and its highly noticable. good thing i was able to paint over it after i got a different head unit but still. watch out for those stuff

 

so i went to the mitsu dealership n just that peice alone cost $107 so imma just end up painting the whole silver trim a black gloss..

to xero..yea i smoke in my car so no matter wut i do it just smells like cigs...lol

I had that happened on my mirage dash. I painted it silver and the alcohol on the air freshner washed it away... I just painted it back.
