My speedo is off aswell but here's an interesting thing i found out today . I was coasting on the highway at 120 km/h (speedo speed) and my garmin GPS was indecating 116 km/h being my real speed . Ok so we all know the speedo is off . I decided to reset my avg speed/fuel thing while i was coasting and the speed that came out rigth after the reset was 116 km/h in the avg speed box ! The exact same speed as my GPS displayed . I tryed with faster and slower speed and the computer in the car was always showing the same speed as my GPS . So to me the problem is with the gauge itself the speedo or the unit that converts the digital signals to analog for the gauge . After all the odo is NOT affected .

If either one of you have aftermarket wheels/tires it'll effect it. So either his or yours are off depending on who has the different wheels. Also, the GPS units are not 100% accurate, it's an estimate.

The best thing to do is drive by one of those radar/speed traps that only show u the speed but don't give u a ticket and compare the 2 speeds...

I have stock wheels and tires . The GPS and the car computer (avg speed )on high are showing the exact same speed so me its a problem with the speedo it self ( the gauge with the needle) . My friends lancer GTS speedo is also off by 4km/h and has stock tired and wheels . Mitsubishi will have to invest in this problem sooner or later ...

No it's definately an issue with the Speedo... On the highway coming into town, we have a radar setup that tells you your speed and says slow down if your speed, etc... and I've tested it out a couple times, and It's always been at least 4 KM/h off from what the speedometer says...

yeah mine is off too and I think my wheels are even a tiny bit bigger. I hope this is just the speedo and a precaution or something rather than the speedo reading slower then your actual speed. but if its not just the guage and more the ecu then think of how many miles that is putting on your car that your not actually driving. that is like an extra 5 miles for every hour you drive. on my car with over 7000 that's an extra 500 miles or more I think if I did that in my head right. if that is making the odometer off then mitsu has a problem. I sure hope its just the guage.

well..... seriously i dont have a problem with that.... cuz i've compared A LOT of times with the honda civic... and the speed is identical with them

u know... 06civic's speedo is very visible to others.... and u'll do this kind of things when u really get stuck in the 401 traffic during rush hour.LOL

150% agreed.....

the GPS receivers just gives u an estimate... cuz the nanoclock in commercially available is not accurate.... u need to hv the clock to be at military grade in order to get an accurate reading from GPS satellites

ALSO....... the whole point of the speedo meter is not getting a ticket rite? So having the speedo compared with a police radar is the best comparsion....

i mean...... who cares about the numerical value of the speed if u can drive according to your feeling...... aka push ur car as fast as u want
