handbrake squeak

did any of ur handbrake squeaks when u try to stop ur car just using handbrake.... just from 20kmh to a stop..... the squeak was pretty loud when i am doing it...

am i suppose to do that ..... i might look like a fool to do that...

cuz wut i was thinking the handbrake was just a mechanical system that works independently to the hydraulic system to bring two calipers together to stop the car..... please correct me if i say anything wrong:P

Ha! Are you serious? That's not good for your car. You can bald your back tires. Equals very expensive.

haha i love ripping e brakes but i try to only do it in the rain to save my tires, or if i see some cute ladies around. but yeah its independent from the calipers, there is actually a drum inside the rear rotor and it acts as weak drum brakes which get tightened by the e brake cable. i wish it used the calipers then it wouldn't be so bad and it would work a lot nicer.

Well, I've done a few stops just using the E-brake just to see what the actual stopping distance might be in an emergency situation...meaning, if for some reason my ENTIRE brake system fails. LOL Very doubtful, yes! but better that than panicing and stomping on the brake pedal w/o slowing down and end up hitting something. Just a thought...

BTW, the E-brake doesn't slow the car worth *****! LOL

thx guys......... that also answer my other question about handbrakes

when i am stopping for a light... i do regular breaking, when my car get nearly to a complete stop, i pull my e-brake.... when i let off the break with the e-break fully engaged, my car will creep froward a bit.. i guess itz also because HB is independent of the capliers and the front wheel push the car froward a bit

i guess i need to take it to mitsu for the warranty....

With your cvt thats normal, like any auto. When you put on the e-brake while in gear and then let go of the foot brake. You will notice it lurch a bit forward and the e-brake holds but the suspension moves a bit due to some force from the cvt to the wheels. So when you put your foot on the brake and let the e-brake go, the suspension will "uncoil" and the back will come up thus giving you the feeling of moving forward. If this is the issue, don't take it to the dealer, they will laugh at you.
