my diesel lancer?

so i just got my 08 lancer gts from my local dealer 3 days ago after a three month wait, apparently i bought the last graphite gray lancer in Alberta. i am very happy with the car but i was wondering if all lancers sound like mine or if i should be talking to my dealership? so it starts fine and idles smooth but it sounds like its a diesel, a tapping sound kind of like a quiet vw tdi, has anyone else noticed this, i guess i was expecting to not really hear the engine when its running like other new cars and i cant remember if the one i test drove sounded the same. any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Its the intake that you are hearing that manifold makes the engine pretty noisey.

Probably valve lash. It can happen in colder temperatures, especially with the recommended 5W-20 oil. Check your oil level too, just in case. If it bothers you that much, try using Amsoil at your next oil change...it's great for getting rid of valve lash.

And if you wish to buy AMSOIL, let me know and I will set you up on a Factory Direct account.... too hard for me to deal with the Exchange Rate and Taxes in Canada.... I have 2 warehouses there, 1 in Toronto and 1 in Edmonton...
