In my experience, that only happened when I didn't have the cord in the iPod solidly. Or when nothing was connected. So maybe wiggle it and make sure it has a good connection?

It does it with my iPod too, but if you turn down the volume on the mp3 player, then it's not as noticeable. It's still there, and really annoying because I get bothered by things like that.

I can hear static and/or alternator whine by just choosing the AUX mode on the MMCS. With no cable plugged in. I think I'll have to take it in to the dealer to get it fixed.

I was just wondering if this is the same thing you guys are experiencing?

Um, dude?

Of course you hear static when nothing is plugged in! That's normal. It's because you've set your radio to be using the AUX channel, but you have nothing attached to that channel.

Your car is 100% fine. Don't bother with the dealership. This thread is about people that DO have something plugged in with the cable and get static with their music.

if you look at your instruction manual it will say that you'll get noise with nothing plugged in.

I am getting noise with the cable pluged in, hooked up, and music playing. It also whines when the rpms go up and down.

That sounds like a problem. Especially the RPM part. Maybe you have a wire that's shorting our or something?
