Engine bay noise

My brother bought a 08 a few months ago, so i popped the hood, and started to hear a clicking noise coming from the left side of the engine bay right near the block. It does this hot and cold, heater on and off. Im not rear sure exactly where the noise is coming from, any ideas what it could be? thanks

I haven't noticed anything like this. I'll check tomorrow morning when I'm warming up the car and let you know if I hear the same thing. If you're talking about the 4 clicks you hear in quick succession...those are fine and completely normal.

The 4 clicks you hear at startup is the abs valves self testing.

no this is why the car is running, it is one click about ever 30-45 seconds, this is at idle and not dependent on how long the car has been running

well when i was working on diesel trucks with my dad.. thats the fan clutch activating.. when ur car is moving the moving air takes the hot air away but when ur standing still... the car has no air moving through the radiator so the fan takes the hot air away.. thats what i think

That is was i thought at first (still could be it) but it was making the noise when the fan was off or on, but always at a regular interval.

do you think that the noise you hear could be the fan clutch activating, or do you think it is something else? At this point i am really not sure anymore, i need to go over and take another look at the car, maybe i will get a chance tomorrow.

lol since when does ticking classify as a problem? well unless its a bomb. If you hear it then record it on video, or take it to the dealer. but i am 95% sure its nothing.

it does it while the heat/ac is on or off. I am not saying that it is a problem i just want to make sure it is not a problem. Didn't know if this was a normal thing for the 08 lancer or not
