Same here. I noticed a "click" every ~20s but only when the heater is on.

What does he like instead of ? As much as it might pain you to hear this: your old man may be right.

I was messing around with this the other day and it made that sound only if I left the climate control on "Auto". If the climate control was off I didn't hear a peep.

isnt the sound because of the timing chain?

its the clutch on the a/c compressor. This compressor only runs when needed. Once pressure drops in the a/c system the sensor/ecu will tell the a/c compressor clutch to kick in and start building pressure.

This is completely normal. And we don't have a fan clutch. Its an electric fan.

The clutch is an electromagnetic type. Ince energized it sucks together (click) and the starts running the a/c. Manually turn off the a/c and run it, you won't hear this click anymore. If you are buying this car the dealer should be able to tell you this!

That noise is the constant tic you hear. Small price to pay for piece of mind. A chain is much better than a belt. I AM tired of people asking if i drive a diesel though...

if I am not mistaken, the ticking noise you hear constantly is the lifters?

The timing chain has tension on it and therfore should not make that amount of noise, if it does then you are in for some trouble. A chain is a little more noisy than a belt but not as noisy as the constant ticking you hear.

the ticking of the lifters is normal. If you are really that worried about it take it to the dealer.
