? As much as it might pain you to hear this: your old man may be right.I was messing around with this the other day and it made that sound only if I left the climate control on "Auto". If the climate control was off I didn't hear a peep.
its the clutch on the a/c compressor. This compressor only runs when needed. Once pressure drops in the a/c system the sensor/ecu will tell the a/c compressor clutch to kick in and start building pressure.
This is completely normal. And we don't have a fan clutch. Its an electric fan.
The clutch is an electromagnetic type. Ince energized it sucks together (click) and the starts running the a/c. Manually turn off the a/c and run it, you won't hear this click anymore. If you are buying this car the dealer should be able to tell you this!

if I am not mistaken, the ticking noise you hear constantly is the lifters?
The timing chain has tension on it and therfore should not make that amount of noise, if it does then you are in for some trouble. A chain is a little more noisy than a belt but not as noisy as the constant ticking you hear.

yeah i get that really loud ticking too. one time especially after like an hour long ride and the cabin smelled of burnt rubber too which i didnt like very much at all. this car kinda upsets me being that one it only has 11k on it and ive changed the oil every 3000 with mobil 1 and it's doing things like this.
