Heads up for owners with NAV

Well I sure most of you with nav have noticed the maps are extremely out of date. Turns out that our cars were loaded with 2005 Maps. The good news there is a update DVD that we can put in and will update the maps. The bad news is MMNA feels that it is fair to charge us for this. I went to my dealer today for my oil change and asked about the maps they informed me that there were updates but it was 160$ for an updated. I called MMNA today and opened a case I hope more of you do the same. For them to load a 2008 car with 2005 maps and then expect us to pay to update them is bull crap.

I haven't run into any issues with map accuracy, yet... Then again, my car was assembled in Oct... so maybe it has a newer map pack installed already?

Aren't the newer maps they're selling only up to 2006 anyway? See this post https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...9&postcount=12

Well, I got my 2008 model year car in April of 2007, so I suppoes that makes the maps "only" 2 years out of date

You can check your map and software version in the Support Info screen. What does it show?

I guess I'm kinda happy that I didn't get the Nav. I'll just buy a Garmin one of these days (they also charge for new maps, if it makes you feel better!).

Yea but I am military and am on the road alot and the outdated maps have created some issues for me while traveling more then once so even a year newer could save me some major headaches.

You might want to look at a TomTom One XL instead of a garmin. I've got one, and its pretty slick. It also lets you download/submit community map updates/corrections for free (like everyone else, they do charge for "official" updated maps). You can also download POIs for any place you want (from the community, also)... a friend of mine has one loaded up with every starbucks in the state and it makes a tone whenever he drives by one.

For me, having a portable TomTom is nice when traveling in different vehicles, and the MMCS is nice for the clean integration into the car...

I live in Las Vegas and if anyone has ever been here, nothing is the same from Monday to Friday. have not had any problems with this and LV is probably the etch-a-sketch capitol of the world!
