Serious Problem, i need your help
Hi guys, i've started a thread about my GTS ran over the construction road and got shocked my car really hard,( 30mph hit a little curb, something even worst than the speedbump)
The alliment is still ok i guess, the car doesnt have pulling to left or right while moving forward, cuz my car was goin straight to hit the curb
but i feel my GTS has something wrong, kinda unsteady on the unflat road, the controlling of the steeringwheel just not same as before... i dont know how to describe the condition, but its like playing the Arcarde Racing video game, totally has no road condition feeling on the steeringwheel....
if the suspension has damaged, i dont care, cuz i was planning to get coilovers anywayz, but im just SO AFRAID of the "Rack and Pinion" those parts got damaged, cuz they are so expensive....more than a thousand at least
any mechanical technician here can tell me how can i check out the problem myself? how to test it? i know people would suggest me take my vehicle to workshop , but there is 80 dollars for the inspection and those guys always reply: your vehicle is fine , it doesnt have any problem"

also, if any parts really got damaged, do u think i can still bring my car to dealership for warranty?
sigh...so many sh!tty things happend on my 3 months old car....
My Ex-car Suzuki Aerio also had broken the rack and pinion, thats why i sold it and get Lancer, i hope this wont happen on my new car again....
we cant always notice is there any problem on the vehicle immediately, need to take times to obvious it.....
so should i just ignore it and keep driving it or just send it to workshop waste $ to check it and the answer is mostly the same " Vehicle has no probme at all"

I would say just bring it to the dealer and tell them that the steering feels odd. Don't tell them about the construction zone, and as long as there isn't any wheel damage from the shock, there's no way they can prove you hit anything....but if there is something wrong with it they should take care of it. I know Ive hit some real uneven terrain on some back roads doin about 60, and everything is still good with my steering.
Good Luck

just say hey it doesnt feel right. Let the determining up to them. To be honest, your suspention is suppost to handle or old up to hard driving pot holes and such. So long as your not rally racing the failure I am sure is not normal if mitsu properly testing their suspension.
I have been doing extensive testing on the suspension problem and people who have had the pull left issue.
I want you to answer this question for me after you follow these steps.
1. get into your car. put it in park, center the wheel,
2. plant your left foot on the floor where the clutch pedal would be firm.
3. turn the wheel to the left 90' to the left then turn it to the right 180'
4. and to the left 190'
Do you feel any kinda pulsing or poping under you foot? as if something is behind the firewall.
you can also perform the test at low speeds and see if you encounter the same thing.
Let me know?

i will test it afterwork, EVOSOUL
but i tested something on the highway last night
(sprtmatic mode) 4th geat shift downshifted to 3rd, (pressed hard on gas pedal at the same time) , RPM immeditately raised to 4k+ RPM, MIVEC kicked in, car got boosted .... the problem has begun from here.... the steeringwheel and the car had out of control, my GTS was running out of the straight route, the body pull to right then left..... ( the road was not real flat, but it wasnt really that bad conditon either.... i must hold the steeringwheel tight
i know some overhorsepowered monster car would have this problem....but I THINK IT IS VERY ABNORMAL TO HAPPEN ON OUR LANCER , the feeling was like the car was not stick with the road, i know it probably is the tires problems, but it also could be somethhing wrong with the suspension and steering parts

although there is a relationship between suspension and application of power. the effects are most scientificly related. having to with inertia. applying a full throttle can cause your car to pull one way or another. It could be related to something in your suspension being off. some cars have this happen naturally.
If it happens only when you step on the gas then its less of a problem. power is technically delievered to one wheel vs. commonly thought two. A good example that comes to mind is when i got stuck in a snow after renting a honda fit for a few days. backing out of my drive way and the poor little thing got stock at the bottom. I am pumping the gas trying to get out. then getting out trying to wedge crap under the wheel, and then remembered only one wheel is spinning here.
all that effort digging.
Anyways getting back on topic. the car going straight has alot of factors. just look at your wheels, if your balancer weight wasnt in the right position then you can be in for a bumpy or vibrating filled ride, possibly cause a pull as well. There is tires, areodynamic drag on body parts, damage strut. anything under the sun.
Also sometimes roads can be deceiving as well, highways too, it may look like it has a off set lean to the right. but the path grooves in the road can in fact ofset or compound a lean.
Parking lots are best for this kinda testing. trying doing it there.
But ya let me know if you get a pulsing of your steering wheel and I might have a suggestion or two for ya.

if there is no cosmetic damage, take it to the dealer and tell them to look at it. what are they gonna do? either say okay no problem, or if they magically know you hit a curb they will say contact your insurance company and tell them. I dont know about you, but I dont believe in magic.

If your car is wandering left and right and you have to constantly correct it, your caster angle got screwed up. The tops of the struts should be angled towards the rear of the car. this helps return the steering wheel back to center after a turn and helps keep it steady going on a straight line. If the struts point staight up or worst yet even forward the car will wander all over the road.
took my car to the dealer today, they test drove it, raised my car looked at the bottom, check any scracth at the bottom and shocks got any oil leaking, their answer is what i expected, "Your car have no problem"
The test-driver reported to his supervisior, the steering wheel has softness while turning... which is .. the steering wheel turns a small angel and 4 wheels reacts so sensitive.
Then the conclusion is.... Tires problem... they said the tire pressure is too high, supposed to be 32psi, but they have 43psi (but i never took my car for air pump)
and they admit GTS stock tires are very sucky, suggest me go buy a new set of other model....
Thank you guys for gave me such a lot of opinions and ideas...
