tail light troubles..

ok while on my way to TN a truck in front of me taps a construction barrel which hits my front left fender and knocks my driverside mirror thru my window ... well i get home and see that my tail light is cracked to (time to order some gunmetal altezzas) but all my bulbs work find when i put them in the right tail light to see if they work but for some reason my left rear turn signal doesnt work 90% of the time ..it periodically works but then other times i get the fast turn signal inside which usually means that a light is out. ... i checked the turnsignal fuse in the engine bay its ok i'm waiting on my mirrors so i can reinstall my driver side mirror but other than that i'm clueless i just put my new window in today took me all of 10 minutes and i've got a decent knowledge of electronics and circutry so i can speak geek just seeing if anybody could offer any clues. l8r

First things first. You said you hit it with the front first. Obviously that is going to be the first place you want to start. Make sure all your connections are still tight and not slipping off. Sometimes if you go around a corner with your blinker on and then it starts to short out then yes you will get the fast signal because it is sensing that something isnt working right. Second. Make sure that all your wires are still covered with the plastic sleeve. As mentioned above if they arent you will be shorting something out. Third, check your side turn signal (the one located on in front of the driver door) maybe that is the culprit. That one could be loose or also shorting out. Maybe it bumped that one pretty good and knocked it loose. Other than that I cant really think of anything else other than what you already did and that is to swap the bulbs and maybe keep them in that spot for awhile to see if maybe the filament was just broken and sometimes connects. I had that problem with a light in my house. It appeared to be burned out and the little tiny wire that bridges the gap (if moved properly) would swing back over and make the connection. Good luck and let us know how it turn out.
