throttle cable siezing

SO i have a 2003 lancer oz turbo.
I have had the car turboed for around 8000 miles and the car has 100000 miles on it.
So recently i have had a problem of my throttle cable siezing up.
It happened for the first time last week. I was driving around fast and then i stopped at a budies house and let the car idle to cool down and everything. When i came back out to start the car up again like an hour later i started the car and i tried to back up and the throttle felt hard and i pushed it and then engine reved high and stayed there so i shut the car down. the cable was siezed. so oi towed it home and was like ok maybe it just went out so i replaced it and then yesterday i went and dragraced at a local track. It was fine all day then i went home and shut the car down and didnt drive it for the rest of the day. Today i went out to start the car and same thing. the throttle was stuck. damn
Does anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this or what is causing this?

You could try rerouting the cable (you can see how it's done by looking at threads started by me, I have one with pics called like "took some photos while doing an easy mod") to move it away from the hot motor that can cause it to stick.

I had to replace my throttle cable because of this very issue. It is caused by the throttle cable hanging over the turbo manifold and having the rubber outer coating melt into the cable and then causing it to stick. You will need to replace your cable. When putting your new cable on, keep it on top of the valve cover and away from the manifold.
