Underhood bushing sieze

I was installing my underhood bushing I bought from bushur and found out both of my stock bushing is seize up I got smaller bushing to come out by cutting the entire bushing in half and then twisting it with pliers but the bigger one I can't do that unless I can take it out. I am wondering is there a way to take it out without taking the transmission out or is that my only option cause I can use a whole can of pb blaster and it won't work cause i found out that it doesn't get inbetween the stock bushing. any help would b thankful and merry Christmas to everyone

alright.....here is my update.....

Well I had toremove the battery and battery tray and the smaller bushing and then zip tie all the wires away from the bushing...then I cut the plastic off the stock bushing...then use a diamond cutter with a dremel to cut through the metal part...It was a easy cut...after getting it cut through i just put some more pb blaster on it and just kept on hitting it with a smaller rubber hammer and using a small screwdriver and wedge it inbetween the crack and hit that with a hammer to get the pb blaster to go inbetween the metal pieces...after like 30 mins it actually started to move...and after that I just slowly twist it with my hand...it was still pretty hard to move it around...once I got it to move around I put a small screwdriver on the bottom and pride it up...that was all I did...installed the bushur shifter bushing and put everything back together...from what I notice it actually made my shift smooth and less sticky...one last thing...I drive a 2003 evo 8...so I think that was why mine was sieze...

FYI, there are a ton of "under the hood" bushings". Ok so I assume you mean the small metal ring in the middle of the stock rubber bushings is stuck on the pin from the shifter cable?

Try and get a shorter screwdriver under the bushing and pry up. Otherwise yes you can also disconnect the shifter cable from the bracket. There are these tiny cleats that you much pry out with a tiny screwdriver or probe or some sort. Very much like the cleats you see on aftermarket radio installation cages. Either way though you will still have to pry it up like I mentioned.

give us an update once you get this figured out. I have a set of bushings sitting out in the garage that are going to go in soon. Hope I dont run into the same problem.

I just put my buschur shift cable bushings in two days ago, very simple install. The rubber bushings didn't give me a problem, and my car has 90k on it. I'm going to put the blox roll stopper on this morning. I've read that these two products work great together.

Try and apply a lubricant to the bushing and it might help free it up from the ring. If need be you can try and cutting it up and extracting it, but be careful around the shifter cable. It should be a very simple install as others are saying, is yours deteriorating at all? Shouldn't see that much wear or grime on that bushing.

Apply some lubricant, penetrating grease, etc. to the bushing and see if it will wiggle out. Use the screwdriver to assist if need be.

Good luck
