god forbid you use sports mode if you have a cvt...

ive gotten as low as 9mpg driving in sports mode...not even driving crazy
After reading this i had to instantly comment..... 9mpg? are you serious? my mustang gets that if i beat it up, but i could never see my lancer getting that little, theres something wrong with your car. I use Chevron 89 all the time, i shift between 4-5k rpms all the time, and i average 22mpg. Now, you cant really go much further than 5krpms, and i dont see that extra 1k to our 6krpm cut off causing a 14mpg decrease.

I have run 87 since purchasing the car I get awesome mileage.

In charleston driving everyday about 10 miles each way I was averaging about 23 city

I just made two very long road trips SC - TX and SC - AR and by setting my cruise at 65mph (that may be too slow for some) I achieved 33 mpg when doing 70 + I usually only get 27

Adjusting your driving style so you don't have to make hard accelerations and sudden stops can do wonder for your fuel economy.

Err, i guess ive run 87 the entire time too, i forgot what regular was lol. i guess it goes 87 89 93 here.

The thing is, not only do i drive in florida traffic, but i also engine brake. I'm sure the downshifting to stop uses a bit more gas since its constantly throwing the RPMs up, but the thing is... i still get that 22mpg city. The lowest ive EVER gotten was 21mpg. And like you said, doing around 70-80 cruising i too got about 27 on my orlando trips.

easy... start idle to warm up ... drive a mile... idle to "cool down" ... shut off. I guarantee you'll be in low single digits for the mileage ;D

Alright i understand youre trying to be a smart *** :P but still, thats ridiculous, i sat with my car idling for a good hour during the summer each DAY watching a movie between classes... and i STILL got 20mpg. 9mpg? i want that tested and shown. Our car cant use that much gas even if we tried, well maybe if you stick it in drive and just redline it down the road

Do you mean for a single trip? i could see you maybe getting 9.8 for that short time, but then over time it almost negates it because of the times youre getting well over 25+. but if you went to the pump at the end of that week and filled up your tank to 10-11gallons and only got 100 miles, theres a serious problem.

that's what I get normally to.. But obviosuly if there is more traffic in the city where I'm constantly downshifting and stop and go and go and stop, my mpg will drop pretty fast but for the most part, my car isn't as bad on gas just my input for you

I drive 38 miles to work every morning. Most of the way is major highway and I do 80mph, other parts its speed limit 55 and i'm doing 60-65. Taking off from lights, hard breaking when stopping, and I downshift half the time when slowing down. I fill up about every 5 days, depending on how much driving i do around town and such. I filled up my tank a couple days ago and it said 420 miles on the gas meter thingy. I have just barely below a half a tank now and it says 200 miles left. So I don't really know what that equates to in MPG but I know i'm getting good mileage and I have a SRI in mine.

After putting a custom SRI+dual exhaust, My real time mpg rating my nav is showing me on average is 38-43 mpg now, and actually reaches 58-63mpg on the downhill slope on freeways, or when I do a step release acceleration...

I know for a fact that on my stock setup I cound never go above 30mpg w/o step release type of acceleration. And now all I do is hold it and I get these figures.
