02 Lancer OZ overheating and other problems

hey guys,

I have an odd overheating problem that randomly came up out of nowhere.

I got my car back in september and It's been fine up until now.

Here's my VIN to start off so you can see what I have:

JA3AJ86E92U005680

Everything is stock..

I turned my car on sunday night to drive my friend home and while driving, I noticed that my temperature had skyrocketed to the very top.

The next day I checked my thermostat and it was fine.
Bought a new one just in case and got it put in as well.

Today I got a new Fan controller put in as well.

The fan doesn't turn.. ever.

My dad took some wires from the fan and hooked one end to the positive end on my battery and the other to the negative.. The fan spins. ( just a test )

Turned on the car to see if it would help the overheating..

FAIL. still HOT!

Then my dad says it could be my water pump..

I do have a check engine light for the Cat. converter and 2 other things like something to do with the oxygen sensor or misfiring.

I believe it was P0421.

The very last problem is that..
The gas light comes on when im @ half tank. WTF?!

I did play around with the gauge cluster for lighting.

eughhh.

I just need some help here.

Did you make sure to hook up the fan controller correctly? The connections for the radiator fan and A/C fan are identical looking. Are you sure you didn't switch them by accident? Do both fans come on when you turn your A/C on?

No the connectors are in right..

The fans did come on when I turned the A/C on.
But not when it's off..

Which means it's not my fan relay right?

What do you think the problem may be?

I did change the fan controller properly and it doesn't seem to be that problem.
