same problem

have your ipod/mp3 player ON and playing a song (not paused) before switching to AUX this should fix the problem, it says to have mp3 player connected and powered before switching to aux in the manual

It still does it while there is nothing plugged in, so I don't know why it does that, but that is normal.

Also one thing to note, if you have a car charger and have the ipod charging while you play music through the AUX, that caused a ton of buzzing and static noise for me. It stopped when I would unplug the charger.
sigh

monster cables are the most overhyped and overpriced pieces of scam ever. not only is it close to a 70% markup on retail (ask anybody who works at a big box store and is willing to disclose), but numerous tests have been done on so many of their products -- especially cables -- that show there is no gain. they don't use some superconducting neopolymer martian metal that other companies here on planet earth don't know about. it's all hype.

back to reality, i get the same noise out of the AUX with the RF system. however, when i didn't have the S&S package, I didn't get any noise from AUX at all. makes me wonder why. I'm going to attempt the playing-first-before-connecting method, and if that doesn't work, i'll add it to the list of things i need the dealer to look at next time i feel like crossing the city for that reason alone.

Car electronics in general are the most marked up items available to consumers. While working for Circuit City I found out that some products (head units, speakers, subs, amps) are marked up almost 700% at times... when you throw a brand name on these you can go even higher

car charger

Do not have your ipod plugged into the car charger at the same time either. This causes alot of static when I first tried this. This is possibly some type of grounding interference.

same problem here on a 2009 lancer w/o fosgate
the noise sounds like a digital noise
it's annoying to the extent that I'm not using it and using only mp3 CDs
Its not an external cable problem as I'm using quality cables

this depends on the input. I used a griffen on that does the charge and the audio out and there are no issues with that. Thats really a per product problem

at mid day of the 2nd day your car was at the dealer I would have just asked them to replace the part or order a replacement. Make sure to mention that you have read of many other people experiencing this problem but at the same time some who don't.

i told them about the FM radio reception problem back when I got my first 08 and they "checked it out" for a few hours and "found no problems". basically when i went to pick it up I just asked them really, no problems ? So i went with the service manager and turned my radio on, his next statement was "let me place a radio on order, come this way to sign the paperwork"

my radio was then replaced 2 more times, ended up being a problem with some of the radios.

If you touch the end of the cable does the buzzing stop? If so, it is a ground loop problem and you can use a ground loop isolator I believe...

AUX input troubleshooting

Hey all this is my first post on this board so bare with me a bit.

First off let me state that I consider myself to be very knowledgeable about electronics and wiring. My day job is technical troubleshooting for a prestigious audio company. On to the issue:

I have a 2009 GTS w/ S + S and Navi. I am hooking up a 2nd Gen iPod touch to the factory installed AUX input. When I connect to the headphone jack of the iPod with a 1/8" to dual Male RCA cable everything is fine. now for the problem: I want to be able to charge the iPod as well.

I purchased a Griffin TuneFlex AUX for this purpose as it has an Audio out and power all in one.

When connected I get the same noise that everyone else is getting. Troubleshooting with another iPod and another connection system and cable have led to the realization that the 12V "Accessory" outlet is poorly grounded and/or grounded to a different location then the RCA terminals. Thus setting up a difference in ground potential and introducing the noise to the system.

I brought my Lancer to the Dealer thoroughly explaining the issue and asking them to cut the ground wire for the 12v socket and grounding it to the same terminal connection as the RCA's (note: the only reason I did not do this myself is I am not very good at tearing apart interiors and I did not want to void the warranty of the MMCS)

After having my car for a full day they called to say the service was complete. When I went to pick up the car the service manager informed me that since there is not an authorized Mitsubishi fix for the issue no work was performed. However he did acknowledge the problem and opened a ticket with Mitsu corp. He also mentioned that he has heard of other complaints of this issue and that my fix would work but it would void my warranty.

Does anyone have any advice? Should we continually barrage Mitsu until they come up with an "authorized" fix? I am sure I can fix it but the risk of voiding the warranty is too great.

If you have a manual, it is really easy to take apart the panel to do this. Place your fingers in the coin tray, palm facing navi, and press towards navi and pull up. It's a matter of a few screws and there are not really any difficult clips holding the rest in place. Not sure how difficult the cvt version is. However, I think the 12V accessory has a fast on connection...can't remember that well from when I did my shifter. Even if its not a fast on, it shouldn't be that difficult for you to rewire it to the RCA ground.

I just purchased an 09 lancer the other day and i noticed the same issue, id imagine that it has to be something like they ran the wires to close to a 12v wire and that would cause a radio interference, my car seems to do it even when the charger is not connected
