2009 Lancer AUX Input problems

Well here is the deal and hopefully someone has a solution because dealers are morons.

When i switch to aux mode on my stereo in the lancer, without anything plugged in there is like a rampent buzzing through the speakers. when i plug the ipod in, it gets a littler quieter but you here it in the background. Any one have any ideas, how to fix or what it is.

Rockford system non NAvi.

Help asap is greatly appreciated.

sounds like interference, do they not shield the wires?

it is interference, but im wondering if anyone else has it, and fixed it or if i need to figure out how to tear the panel out and see if a wire is damaged

it says in the manual not switch to aux until you have something plugged in or it will have the buzzing noise you are speaking of

have you tired different cable to connect the ipod? or try hooking up the ipod to something else and if you are getting the buzzing sound still it could be the connecting cables, i know it's simple but that's where i'd start before ripping the dash apart.

It has nothing to do with the ipod, the buzzing is there when its connected or when its not

i was refering to the ipod cables not the ipod itself, but if it's not the cable that could be a big headache to locate.

I have the same thing, I believe this is normal because when playing songs from your MP3, no noise, but when your mp3 is off, noise. I don't think you can fix this, unless you get an aftermarket deck.

Yea I have the same problem too. But I couldn't figure it out so I just started bringing CD's into the car and ripping them to the HDD. I could never get the video playback to work through the AUX either. Sound would work, just not the video. It would look like scrambled pr0n.

Mine used to be kind of noisy until I got some better cables. If you buy the junker 5$ cables, they have no shielding, and the connector that goes into the mp3 player is made of tin. That is just asking for interference, so I bought some Monster iPod cables that are braided, shielded, and the connection area is gold plated. Zero interference while I have my mp3 playing. It still does it while there is nothing plugged in, so I don't know why it does that, but that is normal.

Also one thing to note, if you have a car charger and have the ipod charging while you play music through the AUX, that caused a ton of buzzing and static noise for me. It stopped when I would unplug the charger.

Same thing was happened with mine the first one or two times I used it. For some reason the problem disappeared and it works perfect now.
