Help Seatbelts Dont Work!

hey wuts up people i really need every ones help on this one... :/ my car had a front end accident mostly everything is fixed ! i had been fixing all the important stuff liike power steering motor mounts and all that stuff bout now something really bugging me is that the seat belts will not wind back in and stayed reeled out just like they were during the crash is this fixable or do i need to replace them??????

If it was a decent accident, then replace them. Once they have stretched, they are no good anymore. The stretching is part of how they keep you from going splat. At least that's how it is with old cars

thanks man i guess ill start looking 4 them i think its kinda wired the passenger one got messed up as well if there was no one on the passengers seat at the time of the accident... any idea why?

I don't know. You could try cracking open the retraction mechanism and see if you can get it to work. However, I am not sure the cost savings would be worth having seat belts that may not work properly.

Did your air bags go off in the accident? If they did, there is a device in the seatbelts that blows like an air bag on the inside to keep the seatbelts from retracting so you can get out of the car and not fight with getting the seatbelt off. You'll have to replace them. Just make sure if you get a new set, they ain't blown also. I bought a set, along with the rear, in black for an interior swap, the fronts where shot and I couldn't use them because of this device.
