HIDs in a canadian 09 Lancer GT

alright so ive read a couple of threads on how to
install hids in a new lancer.
and so far its all failed.
basically when put in the hids, the lights flicker when
i put the e brake down and only goes normal when
i put the night lights on.. hence if i turn the night lights off they
start flickering again.
ive tried getting a capacitor for it but that failed too
so i pretty much need help on how i can install them without
the flicker.
whether its me just hooking up the capacitor wrong or
the fact that canadian lancers dont come with DRL relays
for some retarded reason.. i need help. i really want them in.
thanks reply soon please

Hi, I have Mcculloch HID's and they do the same thing. I called a tech at xenonking and he said the reason that they flicker is because the HID's are running @ a much higher current i think he said then the DRL, which causes them to flicker then shut them self off after a min or 2. I just leave my headlights on all the time now. I've read a few threads about wiring the HID's into your sidemarkers and other stuff like that but I'm not electrically inclined so I'm not going to mess with that and wreck something. And no DRL fuse like the EVO. Good luck if you try to wire them in.

yeah the tech is right about it.
because i saw it turn off itself when i had them flickering lol
but anyway if the capacitor is the answer then
does anybody know how the capacitor should be hooked?
and again, its a canadian lancer.. which doesnt come with a DRL relay.

I am currently testing a clean plug and play setup flicker fix as well as a 6000k HID kit as I organize a Toronto Lancer Club Group buy. If you are in the GTA area then you will fall under that umbrella. I will complete my formal review in a few days. I suggest leaving your HIDs in the on position since constant flickering will considerably reduce the life of your bulbs

I wont even pretend to know too much about this issue. I heard different things, so I am not really sure. search the EVO forums, I hear it was something dealt with on the canadian GSR evos in a similar fashion

From what I've read those fix the HID flicker problem. They are a bit overpriced though. There's a guy on the forums somewhere who sells them.

Check and see if he has any left. They are only 18 shipped.

if u live in vancouver try not going 2 a dealership and asking, try going 2 a tuner shop and asking, and considering ur in vancouver that shouldnt b 2 hard 2 find, just go 2 AJ racing and ask

the shop that installed my HIDs put on a relay or something 2 stop the flickering, so my DRLS r my HIDS

This might be slightly off topic but i didn't want to start a new thread. I have HID's, i flip the parking light signal with the lowbeams. The ballasts are powered directly from the battery controlled by a relay switched by the parking light signal. When i am driving everything is fine but when i come to a stop the hids flicker slightly, what could this be? Battery, ballast, bulb? I have had the hids for more than a year now and i noticed it when the weather started to cool down. Any input would be great thanks!
