gas pedal lag

i was wonderin if everyones lancer does this or not. i have an automatic oz rally with injen short ram and magnaflow catback with 2.5" piping. well whenever im driving a long distance, anything past 50 really, i feel a lag when i let go of the gas pedal. its like i step on it and it picks up, and as soon as i let it go the car feels like it slows down, as if im going uphill. last night i thought it was nothing until i was going downhill and my speedometer was still going down and not staying at a constant point. so i dont know what it is, can anyone give me some insight on this??????

Check the parking brake. It might just be the gearing in the car, when I let off my gas pedal it works sorta like a light tap on the brakes, not too hard, just enough to slow up a little.

That's normal for an automatic tranny... especially on an engine that doesnt produce much power. What ur experiencing is called engine braking. Manual people can replicate that exact situation, it's like a very smooth downshift for them. So all in all, there is nothing wrong with ur car.

The accel lag is most likely due to the AFR being a little rich when you step on the pedal. Perfectly normal.

As for decel when off throttle on a hill...the wheels are turning the gears (this goes to MT to so long as you're in gear), so if you're going 80 down a not-so-steep hill, expect decel. If you're going 5 down a steep hill, expect accel. Do not expect it to remain constant.
