Start up with first gear, I hear a noise

this is on my 2009 sportback GTS

Everytime i start my engine and engage the 1st gear and go, the car makes the usual vrmmm then a soft "clunk". This only happens at start up and even if i start it and rev the engine from the get go it makes this sound.

Is this normal, my Lancer is only 1 week old with 1200Km on her. break in noise?

it could be the breaks. I get that sound whenever its really humid out or its been raining.

^+1. I think its your brakes. That and it might be your parking brake letting go.

Definitely could be your brakes if it is after it sits for awhile, especially if they've gotten wet or gone from being warm to cold fairly quickly.

Try starting in 2nd or reverse and see if it still does it. Does it feel like the car jerks a little when it makes the noise (like the brakes are binding?) My cars have always done this after I wash them if I park them right after washing them. Or after a big rain storm, and sometimes in the winter.

Don't blame you, I tend to worry with small purchases even. You spent your money, you want to get something back for that.

I get that sound all the time. I took it to mitsubishi and they said it's supposed to make the sound and they told me what is making it (I think it was abs or something, but can't remember). I was really worried about it initially, but I guess if mitsu says it's supposed to do that, then I guess it does.
