Anyone know how to get to my AC's blower motor??
My AC's blower motor is clogged (according to the dealership) in my 08 Lancer ES. I know where it is (behind the glovebox), and can see it, but I need to know how to get to it completely so that I can unclog it. Anyone have any advice? (I'm not bringing it back to the dealership...seems everytime I go they come up with something new that they say is wrong, and when I double check, its not...I think its because I'm a chick.. go figure..
so I'm doing it myself this time).
Also, has anyone else had issues with their low or high pressure drop valves leaking? I just found out yesterday that my high pressure drop valve is leaking, which is why I was already out of refrigerant.. Thanks for any advice and assistance!!

That would be SO incredibly helpful! I started to yesterday, but couldn't figure out how to get the casing off. At all. I don't know why. Me and another friend that I'm in auto classes with worked on it together and couldn't seem to figure it out. He's going to try to see if he can find any diagrams at the school today and we're going to try again this weekend, so pictures would help a ton.
So far you're the only person that's really offered to help me out with some info. Other forums I posted questions on got me answers like "have a guy friend that knows about cars do it for you" or other answers along those lines... So frustrating. If I wanted someone else to do it for me, I wouldn't be asking for advice so that I can do it
.
THANK YOU!!!

i didnt take any pictures after i took it apart, sorry i did attach the panel removal page though lol
but it i found it pretty straight forward. take out the glovebox completely, after it swings all the way down, it lifts right out.
after u get that out, lay on ur back and look up at the bottom edge where the glovebox hinges...you will notice two small push clips, use a screw driver and be gentle to pull the clips, once you get the clips out the whole bottom cover will come straight out.
once thats off you wall have full visibility of the screws holding everything together. I took the fan out and ran it but i didnt hear any rattling from it, so i just used a rag to clean everything up (not that it was that dirty, and there was no dirt/sand in the round case) put it all back together.

Wow, I can't believe I was that close.
I got everything off and saw the push clips and was afraid of breaking them in the whole process, so I fiddled with it for a few minutes and decided I should stop before I broke them..
Thank you!! At least I know I was definately on the right track!!
I'll probably take it all apart tonight and see what I can do... You're awesome!
Thanks again!!

No problem
I havn't heard the sound again, and I hope i dont because i dont want to dig into the ac part of it, it gets a lot more complicated as u move to the center of the dash.

I'm afraid I might have to do that...I'm being very stubborn and hate the dealership near me, and the closest one other than that is a good 20+ miles away...
But last night I took the blowermotor out, took it apart, cleaned it out, and it's still making the noise...It almost sounds like its closer to the center.. I'm thinking of getting a shop vac and seeing what it will take out (if anything)...
It sounds stupid, but I'm so afraid of messing something up on my car lol I've only barely started taking auto classes, and really can't afford any mess ups...
But my car is really starting to irritate me... :/

I thought it would be, too. But when I asked them about it, they claimed that the filter "had junk in it" and I should have replaced it, that it's "lack of maintenance".
My problem is, I've been bringing it to the same dealership about every 2 months for service, including my multipoint inspections and such, and they haven't said anything to me about it, at all. I would think that as part of their "inspection" they would notice and say something.
Then again...the last 30,000 mile inspection/oil change they did, they "forgot" to...1. check tire pressure (the indication light came on so I did it myself...), 2. turn off my service indicator. Who knows what else they skipped out on. Luckily I knew how to do both those things on my own, and double checked my oil and everything I needed to be "safe" because I was driving my niece and nephew home-- 400 miles away. I made that clear to the tech, too, before I handed him my keys, and they still skipped things. I'm so incredibly frustrated with them, but the next closest dealership from me is way way far from where I live. It royally sucks. I also asked them to check for leaks in my AC system. They claimed they did and that there were no leaks (I was out of refrigerant, and I know I shouldn't have been). But when I hooked it up to gauges later, I noticed a leak in my low pressure drop valve. I'm so incredibly irritated with them at this point.
They don't listen to a word I say about whats wrong with my car. I drive it every day. I'm not one of those naive females that knows absolutely nothing about cars. I know when there's something wrong. But they dismiss it and don't listen at all.
Sorry..venting. Anyways, I'm going to take it to them next weekend (or this weekend..we'll see) and see what they say. I'm having a sit-down with the manager.

Thats what I thought, and said the first time they said that. I think I'll bring my dad down there with me this time or something..I'm probably way less likely to be messed with or anything if I have a guy with me, which is still ridiculous (honestly)....i'm getting so tired of dealing with them, thinking I may go to another dealership if they absolutely refuse to do anything. I'm getting so incredibly frustrated with this... :/
Thank you all for the help and such!!
