please help! car starts and dies

I was leaving work tonight and as i pulled out of the parking lot my car just stalled. I tried to start it up again and its started but then died within a few seconds. I've tried server times even letting it sit for 10min and it does the same thing each time. Starts with no prob but then just quits, and yes I have plenty of gas in it Seems to me it is the computer shutting it down once its running but I really have no idea where to start. Any help or advice would be great!! (btw, its an 02 OZ manual)

Things to consider are your fuel pressure, is your pump working and maybe vapor lock, I used to have this in my VW GTi and My CRX car would run fine and then just die, over and over then after while it just runs fine again. Check those two things out, just my $.02

do you have an aftermarket intake? If so, it may have "unplugged" somewhere, check all vacume lines, and make sure your MAF is plugged in

Thanks, I'll check into both of thoes, should be easier now to see in daylight. (btw it does have an aftermarket intake). Any chance it could be something with the ECU? I have no idea just a thought.

Kurchy...my girlfriend just had this happen to her Volvo S80 this weekend...make a long story short; check the throttle-body...it might require a good cleaning. That solved her issues....good luck!

oh yeah. the throttle body. my old 1g eclipse had that issue. the car would die at idle. if the TB is clogged, air can't get around the butterfly flap and the engine chokes to a stop

Well turns out it was water. I bought the car used and turns out the previous owner did a bad job mounting the air intake. This was the first time I had it in the rain and seems the way he had the intake mounted it sucked up a bunch of water. Hurt the wallet a bit but at least I'll have it back tonight

Well I got it at a dodge dealer that took it in on trade. They gave me a pretty good price on it because they wanted to sell it as is because of all the mods the guy had on it. Guess i should have looked at that more closely. Did seem a bit low but not sure where else it would fit. Just wondering if there is was some sort of shield on it that he took off. I guess we will see tonight when i get it back what I can do.

so hold on...if u suck up water from the CAI then you probably hydrolocked since your car keept turning off..which means that you need a new engine...I think. If your saying that the dealer is charging you a lot, how much is a lot because if you really did suck up water its going to cost $$$ to fix, sounds fishy to me..

Well sounds to me like the bottom elbow of the CAI filled with water so no air was able to pass through to the engine for it to run. So I'm pretty sure all they did was remove it and dump the water out which pisses me off cuz even I could have done that. The invoice states "cleaned out throtle body & intake loaded with water also did induction service" Ended up costing $200 so its nothing extream but I doubt they touched the throtle body or anything besides dumping the water.

definately sounds fishy. so your CAI has an elbow in it where water can just sit? like the j-pipe deal on sink drains? hmm... water should not be able to just sit in there.
