2010 GTS Manual 1st to 2nd gear jerk

Hey guys, I just picked up my GTS this week and I'm very satisfied with it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a sweet spot for shifting between 1st and 2nd gear. I accelerate to around 25km/hr before I shift, but the revs drop from around 3,000 rpm to around 1,200 rpm causing the car to jerk. I've also tried shifting earlier, but I miss the power band so the acceleration isn't smooth. Has anyone had better luck finding a good shift point?

Thanks

Are u shifting properly? Sounds to me like bad clutch disengagement...

I should be, I learned driving using a manual car but ended up driving a auto for four years, so this is my first week back to the manual. In terms of my shifting, I clutch in, shift to first, gently clutch out, accelerate before I clutch in again for 2nd. Its during the time when I'm clutching out for 2nd is when the car well jerk. Is there something wrong with my technique? When I"m about to clutch in, RPMs are around 3000, but when I clutch out, it drops to 1200. However, when I wait for the engine to naturally drop in speed, I can clutch out without a jerk, but it takes almost two full seconds to drop in engine speed.

Try this. Clutch in, shift, and then while ur clutching out gently, start pressing the accelerator gently, building it up. I think that should be it.

you just have to practice your shifting, start slow, eventually you will learn how to do it fast instinctively

thanks guys, but for some reason, I still can't get the timing right.

I shift into second around 25km/hr at around 3000rpm. But at 25km/hr engine speed to link up against the transmission is around <1500rpm. That 50% drop in the engine speed is whats causing the uneven shift. Even as I rev up while clutching up, it still jerks the car since I'm trying to increase engine speed while engaging the gear. Any other thoughts guys?

smooth shifting is all in your left leg...if done properly, you can shift all the way to third without using the accelerator and no jerking...granted this will burn up ur clutch and its mad slow lol

Since your car is new the EECU is still trying to learn driving habits, the RPMS will hang up and not drop as fast, thus shifting into second and RPMs not coming down while engaging the clutch will cause it to lurch slightly. Am I correct? If so then this should disappear in 5K or so... PS you should only rev up the engine while doing a downshift to match RPMS

Just drove my grocery getter today and shifting from 1st to 2nd at 3K should bring you down to 2K.

Shifting at 4K is a good shift point as it brings you to 3-3.2K approx which should give you plenty of torque in 2nd.
