Weird Ticking noise on 06 lancer

Hi, i'm new to this site and just recently bought a 2006 Lancer Es.
So the car is great and so far no issues, has about 78k miles on it. But i have noticed a loud ticking noise that sounds like injectors... but another noise worries me it sounds like a loose timing belt but it is coming from the opposite side of the car about where the trans is. So because i've never owned a Mitsu i was wondering are these common noises or somthing that needs to be checked out?

The ticking noise that i believe to be injectors is just a

click click click click click click click click (coming from the area of the intake)

The other noise is more of a

taat taat taaat tat tat tat taat taat tat taaaat but seems to quiet as i progress the throttle

It could be a lifter or exhaust leak

hmm... i did consider a lifter, the previous owner used crap oil crap gas but looks as though all the rest of the fluids are very clean. So i'll check the exhaust and if its a lifter whats the solution? is there a good product i can run through it

The injector noise you're hearing is likely the normal operating noise. They do get quite loud over time. If it's your lifters you'll be easily able to tell. Get in closer to the valve cover and move the throttle. Is the increasing noise coming from the head?

If your lifters are dirty/clogged you can remove them and clean them in diesel fuel, but it requires some disassembly of your head to gain access to them. There's a thread somewhere that talks about cleaning lifters and has the process from the FSM on how to do it.

You might be able to use some SeaFoam or another equivalent product in your oil before you change it to work its way through your engine and clean up deposits, gunk, etc. Worth a shot.

Okay thanks i'll try some Seafoam and if thats a no go i'll search for that thread about the lifters. The noise doesnt seem to be affecting the power of the car... just a worry some noise to me. Clutch is bad so probly looking at doing that here soon. I was going to buy an Exedy clutch kit, unless you know of a better set-up?

I believe the Exedy clutch kit is just an OE replacement. You can pick up an ACT clutch with a 2100lb pressure plate and street disc if you want a slightly stronger clutch with excellent driveability and smoot engagement. A clutch kit for a 90-94 Eclipse 2.0L DOHC non-turbo will fit, as well as any Mirage 4G93 clutch kit. As long as the disc in the kit is 215mm.

That's awesome i wasn't aware that it had so many substitutes for the clutch. The Exedy is about 150$ has everything but a flywheel. So i'd be getting a new one of those, i never use the old flywheel nor will i have it machines to me its a waste i'm already there might as well just throw in a new one. (gives me peace of mind) But yeah thanks alot i'll look into an ACT then.

I did a trans flush today, i hope i was correct in the amount. I bought two bottles of full synthetic threw those in an added just under half a bottle of syncro-mesh. That sound about right? Anyways i did the the seafoam while i was there and it seemed to qiet it for a little bit but then later that night noise came back. Do you have a rounded estimate of what a shop/dealer would charge to clean em' in diesel fuel?

(btw thanks for all your help i really appreciate it ^_^ )
