Since we've heard nothing from the OP I'm guessing he already found out that it needs a motor and either has it in the shop or ditched the car. You live and you learn I guess. I've seen enough hydrolocked engines come into my shop that I'm paranoid about even driving through big puddles, and I would NEVER run a cold air intake.

 

this is why i installed a bypass valve. saved my azz two weeks ago. so many ricers on the side of the road with hazards on hydrolocked from sucking it right up through the bumper filter. *shakes head*

Learned this from my friend Jeff who invested $18k into his honda civic setup only to trash it in a deep puddle.

 

Bent a rod
The Clunk when you tried to start it was it hydrolocking .
