Hobie motor comes out easier from the bottom... just take everything off and put motor/tranny on jacks... then take final side mounts loose and raise car up as high as can... lower jacks and pull motor and tranny out from under. Just take the head/intake off before this and it will all clear. They go in from the bottom at factory... the crossmember is 3 bolts and once removed leaves clear path for all. Axles just pop out and can be removed in a half hour so nothing will be keeping you from doing this. Honestly i think the new stock motor for now would be better way to go then figure out your fuel/mapping issues while you build the other motor for what your looking to do... at 5psi you should have never blown the motor. Take your time or you'll be spending more than you ever could have imagined. Hell you could have gotten a kit for less and been fine... not use that against you but just as an eye opener so you'll slow down and get things back in order correctly. The turbo you have should allow an infinate amount of potential. With that size turbo though the proper wastegate/fuel system is a must and the aem is no easy thing to tune. RRM has a base map for aem on the lancer... maybe if you talked with ROCK he'd sell it to you... this would atleast eliminate that part of your problems. From there you should be able to get things sorted out. Good luck and sorry to hear about the troubles... it's never fun/good when a fellow lancer falls.

Preciated, Boe.
If I can find a little time tonight I'll have the oil pan and head off. i'm pretty sure cyl 2 is the culprit.
I'm not looking to purchase a map, and something tells me Rob's map would be built for MAF and not a 3.5bar MAP or WRX 440cc injectors. The transfer would be more difficult than working with what I have. I think it would cause as many problems as it might solve. What it comes down to is either my map was way off (possible, but neither probable nor the sole cause now that I'm looking back on things) and/or my fuel system was not delivering fuel properly (most likely). I've been having fuel delivery problems since day one both on stock ECU and the EMS.
As far as kits go...not interested. I went custom because nobody else would. Personally I don't think either of the two kits available suit my end goal. I'm not necessarily looking for the easy solution when it comes to building my car. I'm looking to do something a little off the beaten path.

Welp, the car's still not completely torn down, but anyway...with the manifold finally off (Dear Lord what a pain in the *** that was) I can see that cyl 2 definitely looks lean. All signs point to injector failure at this moment. Hopefully I'll get the head off during the week. I don't exactly have a lot of time to be doing this right now as if anyone who was following my progress couldn't tell.
