CVT "Shifter Knob" removal?
CVT "Shifter Knob" removal?
I have a 2010 gts with the CVT. The top portion of the shifter wiggles and moves a few mm back and forth. I looked at it and wasn't sure how it was attached. Is there a way i can remove it/correct the slight wiggle? does anyone have this problem?
I have removed this before but it ends up breaking the clip that keeps the silver trim piece on.
Twist to the left with heman strength and it should pop off.
Then you will need something to lift on both ends in the little openings that reveal themselves behind the trim and the knob will come right off.
Or take it to your dealership, it should be free of charge.
I changed my 2010 Lancer GTS with CVT with a momo shift knob.

Thank you very much for the info!
Is there any site that carries a selection of replacement knobs? I haven't seen much, so removing it won't become necessary until i found something worth replacing it with.
Thanx!

Momo, Razo, etc. are easy to find.
Pretty much any shifter will fit it since our CVT automatic does not has a push/release button built into the shift knob so all the shift knobs meant for manual transmission will work.
Once you take the trim and original shift knob off, all you have left is just a shiny metal cylinder that can take aftermarket adapters (included in aftermarket shift knobs)
I used momo, which had screws to lock the adapter and knob in place through pressure on all sides.
I tried to pull it off but it was as sturdy as OEM after.
You really can't go wrong with any aftermarket knob as long as you don't go for the automatic shift knobs with a press release button.
