Car dying as result of intake...
Last night I just had put in my AEM CAI and started my car, and it died! And then it died again! I had to back out quickly, and take off, and even then it was shaking and jumping. It had to run for a while before it had quit dying before it began to run HALFWAY properly. I drove for about a mile, and the check engine light came on. I need some help with this before I ruin my new car
Did you hook everything up right? I would put the factory box back on and if it is still running rough, take it to the dealership and have them look at it but don't tell them what you did.
upon installing an intake of some sort, the first thing you must do is unplug the negative terminal of your battery. then, after putting in the cai, you put the terminal back on your battery and MUST let the car idle for no less than 15 minutes so that the MAS gets adjusted to the new airflow your car is getting. i know for a fact that if u didnt unplug it, thats whats causing the engine light to come on.. as far as the idling problem goes, im about 80% sure its because of the same reason.. if u did unplug your battery, you must not have put the MAS back on properly or forgot to plug it back in. if all else comes to fail, just reset your ecu..

In case you didn't know, the MAS is the little gold chip-thing inside the honeycomb that should go at the connecting end of the CAI.

yeah i agree with letting your car idle for 15 mins after you reconnect the battery, its not too late to do that, jsut unplug, and plug. but the whole car shaking thing is weird. maybe you pinched one of the spark plug wires in the process of installation. another thing, did you make sure nothing flew into the throttle body during installation???
Double check your connections and that the MAS plug is firmly connected. Make sure there aren't any leaks... and make sure that the filter is cleared of any obstructions. And make sure the MAS is facing the right direction.
If all else fails.. disconnect the battery... put the stock box back on.. and see if the problem goes away.

its def either your battery not being unplugged our putting the MAS sensor back on incorrectly. Make sure sooner than later what the problem is because if you don't, and need to replace you MAS, i'm pretty sure its going to cost a lot of $$$.
I didnt reset my battery and I'm running fine? Should I do this? Will this give my car better performance from the intake or what? I was kind of trying to reset the ECU the other day but when im undoing the ecu the screw(One on the negative terminal) just spins so I dunno. I probably gotta get someone to hold the other end... PM ME or just leave one on this thread and let me know the benefits of unpluging the battery.
you better be careful, removing the ecu without disconnecting the battery can sometimes fry the ecu.
to reset the ecu just disconnect the battery.
i don't know if this ecu learns or not, but it wouldn't hurt, because it will learn the new settings, but if it doesn't learn, you're not doing anything, except for clearing codes, if you have any

See when I Installed I didnt remove the mas I simply took off the box then straped up my filter! I guess ill give that Reset a try tomorrow also I'm gonna retest the Tornado Air thing tomorrow! (Stopwatch 0-60 which wont help too much but its the best testing I can do and race against a friend. Then I'm gonna check the gas mileage in a week and see if that improves!
