Is there a small washer that comes with the new sensor? Does the old sensor have the washer come out with it or is it still sitting on the head? Reason I ask is cam and crank sensors are VERY sensitive and if they are even a little further away (say the thickness of that washer) that could be enough to keep the sensor from reading that sensor plate thats spinning. Only thing I could think of is you have the washers doubled up causing the issue

Ah sorry for my late reply. After 2 months of my car sitting in the garage I. Asked my wife to crank
It and I realized that my timing belt isn't turning. What does that mean?

means it's broken or stripped at the bottom...

replace timing belt and tensioner and check for compression...

how many miles on the car? you may want to replace the water pump as well...

make sure cylinder 1 is at top dead center. you can easily put the car 180 degrees out of timing

I'm scared, I have been having these similar problems with bucking, stalling, and now failure to start sometimes. I think I am going to go to Mitsu dealer and ask how much a camshaft position sensor is.

I think it could also be my catalytic converter, which seems to get clogged every year (I am now on my THIRD cat, soon to be replacing it with a test pipe)

going to swap out my cat for a hollowed out one I have and see if it still acts up, if so I will try the cps.

they will want more than msrp for the sensor go to mitsubishiparts.net look up the part then ask the dealership if they will price match if not just buy it from mitsubishiparts

They don't have the part, I just checked my cat and thankfully it is clear as day so I am going to change out the camshaft position sensor and hopefully that will fix my problem
