Hey guys i have an 08 gts that i put a ralliart setup on and i have a gas smell on dipstick. I know never good. But, i did a compression test and all 4 cylinders were around 150. So that eliminates a ring issue. So i changed my oil and the oil that i drained didnt really smell like gas, just oil. It also looked good. So i put new oil in and the dipstick has a slight smell i believe, if so, its not near as bad as before. Car doesnt smoke blue or white or anything. My car hasnt been dyno tuned yet and is running superrrrrr rich. Could this be the reason? Im really worried. Thanks

Also turbo question here.. Does running lean at idle hurt anything? And does idling hurt if you have knock? Or only when WOT?

 

Sounds like a leaking injector. The fuel is washing past the rings and into the oil pan. Consider having them bench tested. If the tune fixes it - then there were just superrrrr rich as you so eloquently put it...

 

The oil will always smell a little like gasoline, due to blowby of unburnt hydrocarbons. But if you are getting a very strong smell, it may be an indication of running rich (which would/should throw a code) or as said before, a stuck open injector, but all these should cause drivability issues/DTC's.
