Unhappy 08 Lancer GTS Problems

Well, Today I was getting ready to pull into my local hardware store and well, when I came to a stop to turn in, I gave the car gas and it did not go anywhere, did not respond to the gas pedal, So here I was, stuck in the middle of the road, I turned the car off, and started it back up, put it in drive and it barely had enough power, just enough to pull in then it didnt respond to the gas again. When I went to put it in drive it was as if it was slipping because I gave it gas, jumped to about 3000 rpm and it then took off. Whats wrong with my car? It has the CVT trans, has 63k miles on it and it sucks because my warranty just ran out.
Yeah I know its my first post. Help a newb out?
Only lights that came on was the Engine Check Light.

sounds like a transmission issue or data link between the eng and trans. You still have 10 year 100,000mile warranty on powertrain.

I would first get the MIL (check eng light) read to find out what component may be causing the problem.

Warranty is transferable!

Plus you said a check eng light came on, so chances are its on the engine side. Who told you that there is no warranty because you are the second owner?!

Well I dont know what to do, I read in the handbook that the 10 year 100k mile powertrain warranty was not available to the second owner of the vehicle.. If it is than I'll definitely call my insurance company and get them to haul the car to the local Mitsu place and get it fixed. I miss driving the thing. Was so cheap on gas compared to the rent a car malibu I got right now.. Freaking thing isnt cheap AT all on gas.. Plus the lancer was more fun.
Heres what I have read on warranty info. The 2nd line to each part is for subsequent owners
New Vehicle Limited Warranty

5-yrs/60,000 miles

5-yrs/60,000 miles

Powertrain Components

10-yrs/100,000 miles**

5-yrs/60,000 miles

Anti-Corrosion/Perforation

7-yrs/100,000 miles

7-yrs/100,000 miles

Adjustments

12-mos/12,000 miles

12-mos/12,000 miles

How does C0700 mean replace the CVT ECU? I looked through all the mitsu codes in the manual and the only code that you have that is valid is p0043. Which is the 3rd oxygen sensor. None of the other codes are listed in transmission, engine, ABS, sunroof, ETACS ECU. I think you may have a bad code reader or be using it wrong.

That sucks for the warranty, cause here in Canada its fully transferable.

Just checked my snapon code library and the P0216 comes up, but for an older model lancer. Its the timing\injection control circuit. So I don't know how you got these codes, but they are not right.

OK, so I looked up generic codes in my scanner. And the C0700 Does say transmission ECU malfunction. I don't know why it wouldn't say this code in the manual. But if this is the actual fault, then it could be a fuse, bad power or ground, it doesn't mean the ECU is toast. Thats the last option.

P1637 -- Can Link ECM/ABSCM Circuit / Network Malfunction

This could also be a drivability issue. Again, I don't know why it wouldn't be listed in the lancer manual.

P0216 -- Injection Timing Control Circuit Malfunction

Weird that the manual only lists one of these codes. I would double check with a different scanner. I wouldn't just start throwing parts at it. You have to get this professionally diagnosed.

Here's an idea, phone a mitsu dealer and tell them the codes you have, see what they say.

This scanner was from a guy thats a certified mechanic. So I'm pretty sure it isnt any old scanner Lol... Im checking for fuses right now.. So Hopefully its just a fuse and I'll be happy to get out of this rent a car gas guzzling malibu ive been driving.

id pay the $100 the dealer charges to diagnose the vehicle, at least they will read the codes with a mut-III and not a generic scanner.
