Block Heater for 2.0L

Hey guys,

Recently moved to Labrador for work (Northern Canada) and took the Lancer with me. It gets down to anywhere between -20 and -40 here during the winter, so a block heater is going to be a must. Anybody know a manufactuer, or is anyone running one? I'd refer to the dealer, but the nearest one is 2000 KM's away, not a chance I'm putting 4K on the car to have them install one.

I would suggest getting a battery blanket to something similar and wrap it around the oil pan. I don't think mitsubishi makes a factory block heater, but they may have come out with one. Best thing is to call and ask the dealer where they could source one and if they could ship it to you.

I was going to, but with the snow we get up here, I figured the adhesive would fail between the extreme cold and snow.

For anyone looking for this in Canada, Phillips & Thermo makes one, carrying the part number #3100111. It's listed as 2007-2010 models, but it should fit the 2011 as well, as it's the same motor, and the hole that it goes in is still there. It's located on the left front side of the motor, just below and behind the Throttle Body. If I think on it, I can snap a picture when I do the install. There's also a video on YouTube of an install, but the video is a little shaky.

This is for the 2.0L motor, by the way. I'm unsure about the 2.4L. If you're in Canada, you'll have to source this through CarQuest, as Phillips & Thermo won't sell to you direct. Just call them, say you're looking for a Phillips & Thermo block heater for an 08+ Lancer 2.0L, and give them the part number, as it should be in their system. In the States, you can find a similar one at O'Riellys.

Hopefuilly this helps someone in the future!

Went to install it, and it WILL NOT fit cars with the manual transmission, unless you want to let go of your linkage to make room. I'll be installing the pad type one that sticks to the basepan instead now.

Anyone want to buy this cartridge style one? Only 20 and shipping, grea for you auto guys in cold areas.

Markj, your Inbox is full. Here's my PM to you:

I can't gaurentee it will fit, but if it's a 2.0L it should. The only reason it wouldn't fit on a my '11 was because the manual shift linkage was in the way. I can only assume you wouldn't have this problem as you have an auto, but check to make sure you have clearance, and let me know. Also, that 20 and shipping is a typo. I paid 80 for it, took it out of the package, and put it in a box. I'd like 40 for it.
