I have an 08 DE with a manual transmission. The other day, the shift knob was loose. I screwed it back tight, but now it won't go all the way down. It isn't flush with the boot, and a small portion of the plain metal shift rod is showing. It looks bad. I have tried unscrewing it and screwing it back in, but it won't go down all the way. Any ideas?

 

This may sound silly, but will the boot come up to meet the knob?

 

I can't seem to get the boot to move at all. Anyone have any ideas?
