uhh..i think you connect it to that..just take off the stock air box..and after that grueling stage with the 4 screws that are so friggin hard to take off from the plastic air box back part..you should attach the new air intake directly to there. i hope this helps! goodluck

Not quite cleofis...he's already taken off the air box.

Notice how in this picture the heatshield is a combined shield and bracket? The cone will secure itself to that round flange on the side facing us, from there, you see the rectangular whole which leads to the MAS and the honeycomb mesh. On the other side which we can't see is a bracket which will secure the shield to the MAS assembly. You need something similar.

I know you don't have the RMR one otherwise you wouldn't be having this problem. I was telling you that you need an adaptor. Round hole to a square hole in essence. Look here at this other custom intake. Notice the silver bracket highlighted in the oval. You need to acquire something similar. Ask member loneeemeeee for assistance if necessary.

If you drive a manual that smell is probably your clutch either that or you are burning up catalyst. The part I got from home depot was the 2 1/2" to 3" connector($6) I got the MAS adapter plate from Road Race Motorsports with my original short ram intake. I'm sure Rob would be more than willing to sell you just the plate.

if you leave your o2 sensor off and your check engine light is on it is bad
do not run the car without an o2 sensor

if you run the car witch out the o2 your computer doese not add as tot he air fuel mixture therefor making the car run on air basicly witch make increadible amounts of heat making parts start to melt

buy a ROAD RACE

You can't be serious.... doesn't add the air/fuel mix? Find whoever told you this and beat their ***. If for some strange reason, the lancer actually does that, find the engineer at Mitsu and beat their *** instead

I just wanted to stress some key points that might have been missed:
-Make sure the filter that you have has a 4.5" inlet opening. Most filters are 3"
-Make sure the MAS adapter that you get is 4.5" and not 3" (this will be a given if you order it from Road Race)
-If the filter that you do have is 3", you still need to get a 4.5" MAS adapter, and a 3" to 4.5" reducer sleeve as well to connect the two (an adapter for your adapter essentially)

dude do you even knwo what a MAS doese?
it measures how much air is going into the engine and ajust the fuel injectors acordingly without the MAS the ecu would not know how much fuel to add. . . how is that not right and how is mitsu responsible for that all cars are liek that that have MAS
