08 Lancer - Steering Push/Talk button

We just got an 08 Lancer for my son.

Can someone tell me how the push/talk button is supposed to work on an 08 Lancer?

In my Acura, you push it, it beeps, and you give it a command.
In the Lancer we push it and nothing happens.
Do we need to pair a phone first? I assume this button (top one) is for the navi?

Any links to the Lancer Navi Manual?

Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on the button.

Jay

Yes, you need to first BT pair it to the phone.

I am sorry - I don't have a link to the manual.

so you're pushing buttons and nothing is happening at all?Did you buy your son an ES trim lancer?

In 2008-09, ES lancers were "Blue Tooth Ready" meaning that it lacked the blue tooth module and microphone (the expensive parts) but had the steering wheel controls. The blue tooth kit was an accessory that you bought at the dealer. I learned this the hard way after I spent 10 minutes yelling at my lancer trying to pair my phone. I had my phone BT turned on looking for other BT signals but didn't find any.

gts's, ralliart's, and evo's had this feature standard however.

Thank you for the replies.
Yesterday we took the dash apart and found the BlueTooth module above the glove box and disconnected and reconnected the connectors.
We verified it has a microphone near the dome lights.
We pulled the Navi out and disconnected and reconnected all those connections as well.
We also discovered a Sirius module behind the glove box, and on the Navi there is no indication of "Satellite" or what ever wording would show up for that option.

We checked all the fuses and only the Accessory/Cigarette plug was bad, which we replaced. We pulled the radio fuse and let the radio reset.

Still when we push the "talk" button, we get nothing.

Thanks again for any insight you can provide.

weird. do the buttons light up at all? it may be that the button assy is not connected to anything.

Or...

is there any bluetooth options you can mess with through the nav screen?

Great thought, thank you.
When I turn the lights on the three buttons on the steering wheel do light up.
I'm not finding anything on the Navi menus that relate to BlueTooth.
