Hooking up a test button to Aquamist HFS

I wanted to document how to hook up a test button to an HFS kit. I have been doing some experimenting and testing of different things with my kit and Richard showed me how to install a test button. This button will allow you to simulate 100% duty cycle at the push of a button. It can be used to test any part of the system or even to cool down your UICP and intake manifold while staging at the track.

It is very simple to install and very helpful, I really recommend everyone install one.

All you will need is some wire, solder, and a SPDT momentary switch. I use this one

SWITCH LINK

There are 3 pins, Common, Normally open (NO), and normally closed (NC)

You need to cut your IDC trigger wiring going to the FIA2. You connect the side going to the FIA2 to the common pin. Then you connect the side going to the ecu for injector signal to the NC pin. Finally you connect a wire to ground and then to the NO pin.

Now when you push the button, you will be disconnecting the injector from the DDS3 system, and grounding the FIA2 signal. This will simulate 100% duty cycle while also not making your fuel injector go static and flood one cylinder.

This is all from memory as I did this a while ago and I am not actually looking at the wiring right now. I am still pretty sure I have said this all correctly but if you want to check my logic with you wiring diagram please do and let me know if I made a mistake.

thats what i do when i'm setting up the SC and WH trims but first obviously check what injector duty cycles your at first. with stock injectors they will be at or near 100% duty on a full bolt on evo with stock turbo. in that case calibrating the SC for 100% duty is fine, and then simply grounding the trigger wire is how you can trigger the system to calibrate with the car not even running. just remember to leave the nozzle(s) out of the intake track otherwise you'll flood it with meth.

I was also working with Richard on using a PWM simulator so that you could simulate any IDC you want, but that is for another thread and another day.

You can simply ground the wire for the injector duty cycle signal.

But make sure that you disconnect the wire from the actual injector otherwise you will make that injector go static open.

To be honest installing the switch is just as hard as testing it the way I have just described.

Glad it helped.

I really think anyone who installs the Aqumist system them self should also install a test button. It comes in handy so many times and its pretty easy to set up. It is really a handy thing to have.

Its great for testing the system, setting up the failsafe window, scaling the gauge, testing nozzle flow, etc...

Dudical,

That's great news! How would we go about doing the same process but with an HSF-1 kit being that it does not come with "FIA2"? If it's possible that is...

thank you,

Hector
