Front License Plate
Ok. I have a question. First off all we know everyone hates how they decided to drill two holes in the front of the car but i have a question. For all european cars they have them usually to the left and it looks very nice. Well. is their any kind of license plate holder i can buy that will hold it there. i rather have it to the side. so when i decide to get a front mount intercooler. . the damn plate doesn't get in the way you know?.. .. any kind of help would be of great thanks.,
Drill some new holes, but then you gotta find something to do with the old holes, you could find something to fit the holes and paint it to match the bumper, or look to one of the body kit companies and get a new front bumper cover, then put the plate wherever you feel it.
the windshield is a good option for the front plate. if its illegal, u might get the shop thats doing your turbo work to custom make u a plate holder for an offset mounting, shouldn't take more than 10 minutes

I got a ticket for no front plate on my trans am last year in Northridge (so we're dealing with pretty much the same cops here) and after I drilled two holes in my lovely bumper, the inspecting officer glanced at it from 10 feet away and signed it off. Anyway, if you don't want to drill any holes, I have two suggestions:
1) cut the mounting bolts with a hacksaw and double sided tape it on, so it looks legal.
2) get two "L" type brackets from Home Depot and screw them into the bottom of your bumber spaced so that the plate mounts to them. This way, any new holes will be under your car and out of sight. And this way is perfectly legal in Ca.
Hope that helped. I was thinking of mounting mine to the side too. I'm lucky, they never drilled any holes in mine, so I get to choose

just don't put the front license plate on and see what happens, just make an excuse to the cop if you do get asked...but so far here in cali, i haven't been stopped for no front license plate
You're right. They usually only write you up for no plate if they pulled you over for something else and feel like being a jerk. Mine came with a speeding ticket. Two of my friends recently joined the CHP, so you know where I'll be going to get any fix-it tickets signed off!
Funny, I've been driving around with no front plate for quite a while now (front end went into someone's back end when I got rear ended, minimal damage, some scraping) and nothing has come of it.
