Interior electrical/lighting issue in shifter

I searched like crazy and found nothing so far.

I have an 08 Lancer ES w/CVT and my red shifter bezel lights just went out. No other lights or functions stopped working so not a fuse. Yes, still have the center lcd display but I would like to try and fix the shifter light as car is in good shape with low miles for 08.
This is the first thing to break/stop working on car after 7 years. I watched video of GTS shifter swap to ES but found nothing with directions on how to open up the shifter or where the LED lights are for shifter.
Anybody know how to access the shifter LED lights?

Thanks.

there is a single incandescent bulb that illuminates the shifter indicator. look for a wire that connects adjacent to the shift range indicator. You should see what looks like a twist socket. twist to unlock and the bulb should come out with it.

I may be completely wrong though, so if that doesn't help I'll dig around for my old gts shifter and snap some pics of what im yammering about.

Ok, thanks. Ill take a look when I get up today and remove the shifter surround and look for the bulb socket. So, should be on left side of shifter assembly is what you think, correct? Near the white electrical connector area? I don't have to remove entire assembly out do I?

Thanks again so much.

Got bulb out but no store carries this little bulb. Smaller than a #37 bulb. Dealership may be able to get it.
Funny thing is the parts diagram online for Mitsubishi parts doesn't even list it or the entire little harness for bulb.

Found the replacement shifter console light bulb.

Only place I found that carried this little specialty bulb was JC Whitney of all places. No auto parts stores had it nor could look it up. Not even Mitsubishiparts.com showed the bulb or even the wire harness with bulb in diagrams.
So I ordered 2 bulbs from JC Whitney for $13 each, OUCH!!. BUT got them while I could. Only one needed but extra for next time.
Came in AC Delco baggis with part# acd15879670. Also says GM#15879670. So anyone needing one check with ac Delco first and give those numbers. Use JC Whitney if still can't locate bulb. It is called a "transmission light bulb" and is incandescent. Looks like a small xmas tree light.
hope this helps someone else needing one if their shifter light goes out on their lancers.

wow nice work. Most would of just kept the info to them selves. I'm sure some one down the line will have the same problem and will appreciate the effort. mine went out as well but I didn't really care since i was selling the car to dealer soon after it happened.

That's why these forums are so great. You helped me out with my post/question and hopefully I can help someone else later on.

Anyone see this new factory LED shifter light for Outlander and Mirage? Would look nice in matching red for us.
