Hey guys, so i just got my very first car about 3 weeks ago a 2009 Lancer ES, and i'm loving it i got it off a used car dealer mostly to start building credit and well, i didn't have the money to get one off a private seller. so i got my car and they gave me a key, a single key no buttons to lock unlock etc. i questioned and they told me it was all the previous owner gave them. i am planing on having an alarm installed since i don't feel that the car is safe without any kind of alarm/ protection on it. My question is is their any way to know if the car had an alarm with the previous owner? and could i buy a key fob and program it to the car? Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Contact a dealer and give them the VIN. They should be able to see what options the car was built with.
