Cold start, no crank, no start.
Hey guys I need help, I've been to two different mechanics and neither could get to the bottom of my problem. My 2011 GTS Lancer wont crank or start, it gives me an overheating warning even on cold starts. The rare times it does start, it will turn itself off after 15 mins of driving for overheating, even though it doesn't have any symptoms of over heating. So far we have changed the temp sensors, and the variable valve timing solenoid( it was making a wierd ticking sound when trying to start, long shot I know). The fans and radiator seem to be working fine, I'm starting to think it might be a problem with the comp. But I'm hoping someone might know whats going on before I pay to fix it.

Does it throw a OBD code ?
Normally the older Lancers had a crankshaft sensor problem, if oil sludge was built up near the sensor the car will just die or no start, the computer thinks there is something catastrophic wrong inside the crankshaft. The sensor is located inside an aluminum cap on the right side of the engine block that you can take off and clean or it should replaced with a newer improved design that will not collect sludge over time.
Might want to read this thread I started years ago ! ...LoL

You can start by checking for ignition signal at the starter. If your getting signal i would start with a starter replacement. The overheating i assume is not related tho.
