Ok, dealer has Mitsu's TSB 07-011-001 concerning ODBII code 340 & 335 caused by "camshaft sensor support bracket" that needs to be replaced because of a design flaw that accumulates sludge and metallic particles over time that confuses the sensor. This is why after waiting several minutes the car is able to start as the oil drips away from the sensor bracket port where the sensor is housed.

They have replace the aluminium casting with a new design support bracket that doesn't accumulate the sludge. The bracket is located on the right hand side near the top engine block on the side where the camshaft sensor is and is held into the engine block with 2 bolts and 3 other bolts that hold harness support brackets. The cost for the bracket was $49.95cad and 3/4 hour labour $53cad. I know it should still be under warranty as it is part of the motor which has a 5 year warranty, but I didn't feel like arguing with them.

Hope this fixes the problem, if it happens again then the camshaft sensor needs to be replaced at $113cad.

Sweet! I'll haggle my way into a free repair hopefully! If it's something they designed incorrectly, they should fix it.
