Exclamation Lancer 2003 ES Missing MAF Sensor

Hello! I bought a '03 Lancer in 2018 and have been working on it since.
Recently the engine started to shake when I'm driving and come to a full stop. So after doing some research I found that cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor might fix the issue.. but the problem is this car does not have it and think that might be a bigger problem...

I need some help! I just can't find any info about how to install the connection for the MAF sensor. I have seen videos on how to replace the actual sensor but no one talks about the connection.

Thank you in advance!

Intake Routing.

Your vehicles intake routing should be smilar to this image.

The red box is where you mass air flow sensor is located.

I'd like to see some images of your intake routing if it does not match the photo. I'm kinda curious about it.

Thank you for answering! do you know how I could set up the connection myself? I kinda have an idea since I've been looking at the service manual.

Bump, I would really appreciate some help here... I have the service manual with hundreds of pages but I don't know how to proceed here... I know I have to buy the MAF Sensor but what about the connection that goes to the ECM? And how do I properly access the ECM?

Anyone please?

You might have to pull that airbox out. Since all the Lancers/Cedia were all built in Japan they should all have the same setup. Your air filter box looks much different that the one in my 02, but by judging on all the elctrical that you have, you should still have a MAF somewhere. The MAF helps keep the air fuel mixture at correct levels, so unlike some popular belief that results in its removal, it has nothing to do with emissions. I would have to say that it is either contained inside the air box in behind the air filter or it was taken out altogether for some reason. I will post a picture of what the plug and air box looks like later on today.
