No start after replacing fuel pump

Hello all. This is my first post on this forum so please bare with me. Anyway, I have a 2006 Lancer ES, 2.0L. I have been noticing the engine stumbling from time to time, especially when I tried to accelerate hard from lower RPM'S. I noticed lately it was getting worse, and I assumed that it was the fuel pump. So, today I went to O'Reilly's and shelled out the $150 for the new pump and strainer, and replaced the old. Now the car won't start. It turns over fine, just no start. I pulled the fuel line and cranked and there is a steady stream of fuel coming out. I know it takes I a minute for the fuel to get to the engine, but I cranked and cranked with no results. I cranked on it so much I ran the battery low, so now I have it on the charger. My only conclusions were I either ran the battery low enough that injectors aren't opening, or there is a vapor lock. Other than that, I'm at a loss. Please, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas on what to do next, please share! I appreciate any help I can get!

Not sure if a base lancer is the same is the evo... but on the evo you need to make sure you have the rubber o-ring grommet around the nipple that pushes fuel out of the pump. Also, then make sure the pump its self is pushed all the way up into the hanger.

This may be helpful if your setup is similar.

Thank you Dontstopme! I actually used this video for reference. I pulled the hanger and double AND triple checked that everything was installed properly. I made sure that the terminals were connected and the pump was seated. I used the grommet that came with the new fuel pump. I kind of gave up for the day. I'll pull the assembly in the morning and check everything again.
