2009 Lancer GTS Rough Idle/ Bad Cold Starts/ High RPM
I've owned this Manual Lancer with 259xxx KM's for around 6 months and I have had constant issues with it and I am stuck. I replaced the Throttle body around a month and a half ago due it begin broken causing stalling while clutching in and causing idle issues, it fixed the major part of the issue and made the car drivable but it was still having idle issues. I took the car to a shop after noticing an issue with RPMS on cold starts, the car would come up to around 2500rpm then drop to 1000 and repeat this process, it stopped once the car got a little warmed up. The car also tends to jerk forward a bit when coming down in RPM in 1st and 2nd gear and the idle was moving between 750 - 500 RPM but never died. The shop said the code that was thrown was P0102 for a Mass Air Flow Sensor, they said that the sensor was reading incorrect voltages causing the intake to take in less air when it was colder outside. So I tried cleaning the MAF Sensor first and no luck, I ordered a new sensor and it crapped out on me and I chalked it up to damage while shipping and returned it and bought a new one and after installing it, its still giving me the exact same issues plus one new problem, I just got this one today off of a stop light I put the car into gear and it goes but shifting into 2nd gear its almost like its delayed then it kicks the car quite literally into gear.
TLDR Symptoms:
- Replaced Throttle Body (Possibly Unrelated)
- Sporadic Idle when doing a Cold Start, Jumps between 2000 - 1000 RPM Constantly until car starts to warm up
- Idle when warm jumps between 750 - 500 RPM
- 1st to 2nd Gear shift delayed and kicks the car forward
- Car threw P0102 Code for faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor
- Cleaned/Replaced MAF Sensor
- Still having the same issues after replacing MAF Sensor
