I get this weird rattle sound coming from the engine bay during a cold start. It goes away within a few seconds but sometimes last for a minute or so.

It's not the injectors ticking but almost sounds like coming from the turbo area. Will try taking the heat shield off this weekend to see if that's it but started after getting the head gasket replaced.

can also hear it while driving. very faint but can definitely hear it. It's driving me crazy.

Noise coming from ECU

Yesterday I was cleaning my battery terminals and posts. When I put the positive terminal cable back on the post and began tightening, the terminal "ring" cracked. I then spent the next hour with an AutoZone guy who helped me piece together a new positive terminal complete with a new terminal head and bolt to secure it. It took so long because most things we tried were either too big or too small. Suffice to say I did get it on there and it is secure. Upon starting the car things seemed normal accept for a little sputtering for the first ten minutes of driving. After that everything was fine. Tonight, after my wife came home from work she told me that the headlights were dimming when the turn signal was used or window rolled up or down, the stereo cut off completely 3 times. She was able to make it home and parked the car and now it will not start. When the door is opened it attempts to do a ding like it would if the keys were in the ignition but it very faint and its about a half of a ding. There is a sound that came from the ECU "fuse" in the fuse box under the hood. Almost like a static sound every time the door was opened and it would not stop. I pulled the ECU module because I traced the sound to it. Is this just something as simple as replacing the ECU module.

Thank you for any input and your time to read this

I hear a rattling noise when i floor it from 4000 to 5500 rpm, you back off the throttle it goes away. Its not the usual lifter ticking and road bearing noise. This noise appeared when i installed cams on stock valve train. How can i check for a broken/fractured valve spring just by looking at it ?

2 Issues with brand new 2015 EVO GSR

Okay the fact I have make a post about this is annoying in itself. Okay I have two issues with my brand spanking New 2015 WW EVO GSR.

#1) I have a high pitched whining wind sound coming from the driver side area, I have already been to the dealership and they replaced the window sill trim. This did not fix the issue. As soon you get up around 55mph the wind noise starts to happen and its a high pitch frequency.

#2) When I have the climate controls on OFF, there is still air blowing out the vents and when I change the range of temperature the air changes from hot to cold even though I don't have it on AuTo, I have it on OFF. If I switch the controls it does not change anything unless I turn the controls to actually turn it on. So its quite annoying. I live in a small town due to the Air Force so nearest dealership is 50 miles. I already driven back and forth from there about 3 times now.

I was just wondering if anyone else has came across these issues and found a fix. Thanks

update: wind noise fixed

Just a small update: got my car back from the dealership yesterday. The wind noise was fixed by replacing the driver side mirror. Its now just normal wind noise that I can live with.

I have an 03 lancer ES and have the same thing with the climate control. The fan is set to off but heat and all still comes out the vents and it does change from cold to hot when changing the temperature, even though the fan is off. It doesn't bother me though

Started hearing a noise coming from the engine. Only happens on cold starts (it's winter right now) and last for about 5-15 seconds. It's a quiet knocking/deep rattle type of noise. It usually starts off softer and then gradually gets alittle louder (but still pretty muffled) and then gets quiet again and goes away. 03 lancer es, change oil every 3000-3500 miles and check it all the time so I know it's not because of lack of oil

i have an 03 lancer oz rally auto, the other day when i started the ignition there was a grinding sound, sounds like metal grinding come from driver side. The sound is apparent when i turn the car on, and gets louder when I accelerate. However, when i put in neutral is simmers down a bit. Could this be my tranny mount? I had 2 mounts replaced but i was informed when replacing mounts to replace all, but i figured it was a marketing scheme. Anyway please help.

A noise that I noticed in my 2010 Evo X is the clutch rattling... I have a stage 2 spec clutch and aluminum flywheel and when I'm in high RPMs and let go of the gas I hear a loud rattle! Not exactly sure but I'm pretty sure it is the clutch, any suggestions???

that's really hard on you drivetrain, eh? you should shift to a higher gear before letting off...clutch chatter is normal at low RPM when letting the clutch pedal out, what you're doing is beating the **** out of your clutch and transmission...it probably is the clutch though, is it a sprung hub?

Narrowing it down...

Girlfriend drives a 2003 Lancer OZ automatic with just under 140,000 miles. Last night she noticed a sudden grinding noise when she was exiting the freeway. The sound is worse at speed and when turning. When she got home I hopped in to see what she was talking about. When the car is in park and you cut the wheel the sound is not there. However, when you put the car in drive, both at a stop with the brake on or when moving, and you move the wheel the binding sound is present and there is a very rough vibration. The sound and vibes are worse when you cut the wheel to the extreme left, and there are noticeable points in the steering when you can hear and feel it. When you hold the wheel at these points it is constant and does not change intensity. This lead me to believe that the power steering pump or at least the power steering fluid needs to be replaced. However upon inspecting the motor I found that two of the bolts mounting the motor mount to frame bracket on the passenger side were completely sheared and the third is now canted, warped and beginning to unthread. So I am not sure if this is a power steering or motor mount problem. Any help is appreciated!

It could be a mix of both. I would definitely get that mount fixed. Might as well do the timing belt and water pump since its on the passenger side.
